MEDIA RELEASE: 16 January 2015

Pacha Sydney, presented by Heineken, has announced its incredible new programme for 2015. Over the coming months, Pacha will feature four spectacular shows by talented new Creative Directors ‘The Squared Division’, exclusive residencies from MaRLo, Tigerlily and Timmy Trumpet, and headline sets by an unrivalled line-up of international headliners. The new shows will launch at ivy on Saturday 24 January.

Pacha Sydney’s partnership with ‘The Squared Division’ is an exciting and ground-breaking new phase for the entertainment juggernaut that takes over ivy every Saturday night. Established by Antony Ginandiar and Ashley Evans, two of Australia’s most highly respected directors and choreographers, The Squared Division is undoubtedly one of the hottest production houses in the pop world. Boasting over 17 years of international industry experience, their impressive CVs namecheck the crème de la crème of music superstars including Taylor Swift, Rita Ora and Ed Sheeran. The duo were handpicked by pop icon Britney Spears to choreograph her sell-out Las Vegas residency ‘Piece of Me’ and directed Ke$ha’s 2011 and 2013 world tours. On home soil, the boys have been the masterminds behind the stunning productions for The X Factor Australia since 2011.

With a vision birthed in the notion of popular culture, Antony and Ashley will lead a phenomenal team to produce extravagant and cutting edge productions every Saturday night at the iconic Sydney nightclub. Bursting with colour, costumes, dancers and lights, the new shows are: ‘Private Parts’ – an avant-garde celebration of the female body, inspired by burlesque and Parisian cabaret; ‘Objektophilie’ – bringing to life the movement of surrealism through geometric costume designs and obscure silhouettes; and ‘Maison de Fous’ – a twisted and visually confronting tour through a haute couture madhouse.

‘Kiss My Tigerlily’ is the fourth Pacha Sydney show, themed entirely around the blue-haired dance dynamite. Inspired by her fresh and fiery pop aesthetic, Kiss My Tigerlily is a bright and colourful fantasy that journeys through an intergalactic world of laser cats, unicorns, ‘sextronauts’ and mermaids.  Tigerlily is undoubtedly one of the hottest commodities on the Australian dance music scene. Crowned inthemix’s Australian No.1 Female DJ, she won the ear of Tiesto and will soon join the dance giant on his US tour. This exclusive new production can only be seen at Pacha and will kick off on Saturday 21 February.

Dara Hayes aka Tigerlily said: “I'm thrilled to collaborate with The Squared Division on my new show. They have work with the biggest pop stars in the world and bring an amazing energy to the project. The idea of my own show has been in the works for a while and now it’s ready to come to life at Pacha Sydney. I’m going to be so excited on 21 February that I might cry”.

Tigerlily will be joined by MaRLo and Timmy Trumpet as Pacha’s three exclusive Sydney residents in 2015.  In less than a decade, Timmy Trumpet has successfully transitioned from the international stage as an acclaimed jazz musician to the realm of global dance music. Now as a combined DJ/Instrumentalist, he is ranked one of the top five DJs in Australia and has just come off the back of an extensive US tour with Will Sparks and Joel Fletcher. MaRLo, the Dutch-born, Australian-raised trance superstar will perform four spectacular shows at Pacha Sydney throughout the year. His first headline spot is confirmed for Saturday 24 January, supported by the likes of Ben Morris, Nick Arbor and Archie. Additional dates will be announced in due course.

Pacha Sydney will also continue its domination as Australia’s No.1 nightclub with an enviable roster of international headliners confirmed. Stay tuned for further details.

Andrew El-Bayeh, Pacha Sydney Director, said: “Pacha Sydney really is a weekly entertainment experience unlike anything else in Australia. We have enjoyed an amazing two years in Sydney and are excited to have the amazingly talented Squared Division team on board to raise the bar even higher. This is something you’ll have to see to believe”.

Pacha is a dance and sensory overload that features cutting edge music by international and local headliners, mind-blowing theatrical performances, spectacular costumes and awe-inspiring light shows. Since Merivale launched the event in November 2012, Pacha Sydney has been awarded a string of accolades including ‘Best Night Club’ at the 2013 Australian Liquor Industry Awards and ‘Club Night of the Year’ at the inthemix Awards two years running.
