Merivale Launches Upstairs Beresford

Merivale announces that its new live music venue, Upstairs Beresford, will open its doors Friday July 1. Upstairs Beresford is a music venue that has been inspired by some of New York’s finest and designed to give both the performer and patron a first class experience with decadent décor, state of the art technology and a full suite of amenities backstage.
Merivale are known for bringing some of the world’s best experiences to their stable of Sydney hotels, restaurants and bars, and Upstairs Beresford is no exception.
For the performer – be it a band, DJ or entertainer, the venue offers a first class space to perform in. Designed to enable the performer to connect with the audience, it boasts a large stage, tiered booths, a spacious dance floor and a state of the art sound and lighting system.
Backstage, the performer and their crew want for nothing with designer décor, wireless internet connection, a full kitchenette, powder room with theatre lights, a private balcony, and a viewing window to main stage.
On the launch of Upstairs Beresford Merivale CEO Justin Hemmes says, “At Merivale we are proud to offer Sydney some of its best hotel’s, bars and restaurants. With my passion for music, I saw an opportunity for an upmarket LIVE music venue in Sydney. When in New York, I love to spend time in venues such as Joe’s Pub which inspired me to create Upstairs Beresford. I am thrilled with the result and can’t wait to share it with our patrons.”
In addition to inspirations from New York music venues, art deco styling from 1960’s Australia has been used to create the glamorous décor. Featuring oversized herringbone timber paneling, black terrazzo stone floors and a striking colour palette, Upstairs Beresford is a beautiful, intimate music entertainment space.
In true Merivale style, the venue also has a stunning cocktail lounge at the rear comprising of a striking green onyx bar and a DJ booth – perfect for pre-events or as a chill-out area from the main room.
Merivale’s music arm, Jam Music, will manage tour/entertainment bookings for this versatile venue, designed to host everything from bands, DJs, artist showcases and corporate functions.
